This production at Olney Theatre in Washington, D.C. marked Grady’s first collaboration with director Alan Souza. Souza shifted the setting to 1921 to highlight early 20th-century feminist themes. He also re-envisioned Higgins as a young, handsome, and virile bachelor, which fueled a more combative dynamic between Eliza and Higgins—one that evolved into a charged and compelling romantic tension.
