
Grady Bowman is a freelance director, choreographer, and educator whose work spans Broadway, off-Broadway, regional theatre, film, television, dance companies, cruise ships, circus, and higher education. Recognized by Dance Magazine for his exceptional versatility across styles and genres, he has built a career defined by dynamic storytelling and innovative movement.
Select credits include Co-Choreographer (Finale) of The Cher Show on Broadway; Big Apple Circus at Lincoln Center; World’s Got Talent on Hunan TV (China); and Singin’ in the Rain at Olney Theatre Center, for which he received a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Outstanding Choreography.
In 2022, Grady returned to his alma mater, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, to conceive, direct, and choreograph a new 20-minute contemporary dance work for 30 students. Before We Go was set to music by Grammy Award–winning artist Jacob Collier and featured a collaboration with molo design, whose interactive architectural elements shaped the production’s visual world.
Grady has also created two original productions for Royal Caribbean International, currently presented onboard the Serenade of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas.
With longtime collaborator Ashley Lindsey, Grady co-founded GxA Creative, a bicoastal creative direction and choreography team. Together, they produce innovative dance films that have been selected for and honored at major film festivals such as Dance Camera West, BronzeLens, and the LA Dance Film Festival. Their work has also been featured in Dance Magazine and spotlighted on DanceFilmmaking.com.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Grady began his career as a performer, appearing in the original companies of five Broadway productions: Billy Elliot, South Pacific (2008 revival), Honeymoon in Vegas, Wonderland, and The Pirate Queen. He has performed on the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall and in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, toured internationally with Fosse, and danced with the acclaimed company Pilobolus Dance Theatre. His screen credits include Forrest Gump and The Last Five Years.
